My little corner on the internet

   Apr 07

Reach out and touch…..

As I mentioned in my article “Mondays…” yesterday, it was a hard day to cope with. And it didn’t finish when I was finally at home. I was at my sofa with pajamas when I realized that I was still ‘miserable’ for having no more holidays. And while I was trying to ignore myself, the phone starts ringing. I looked at my mobile and recognized the name. I had a call from a young cousin of mine that I haven’t spoke to her since….Christmas! I decided to answer the phone despite my mood. She start talking about how she felt recently within herself, lonely and most times everything were ‘black’ and then she mentioned that she was thinking about me how I always lift myself up and all those beliefs I have about life and how I value life, how positive I am trying to remain despite anything that comes my way. She said while we all need many things in life, the most important thing at the end of the day, is peace of mind and how happy we can be within ourselves. Then she asked me kindly if we can meet and chat as she always gets ‘light’ from our chats. She also mentioned how much she admires the fact that despite what I have been through, I am always so happy and positive, despite my age.

Paused…….Despite my age???? *smiles* well I am not that old…..lol……I guess she was just trying to say that most people at older age they tend to forget that life can still be wonderful and we can enjoy many things at any age without putting barriers.

She was talking most of the time and I was kind of shocked on the other side of the phone. Its not every day that someone calls you to tell you how wonderful you are and how much they want to meet with you to enjoy chatting in order to feel better. I felt pleasantly surprised even though I had no idea what to say.

“We must meet” I said at the end.

“I will arrange it this Friday”

I will! I will make time and meet my young cousin. I will listen of what she has to say and I will try my best to make her feel better.

We must make time for people if they need us. Even if all they need is to be heard. We let our daily routine lead us into a numbness that kills the human side of us. The most beautiful thing we are, we let it sleep, slowly forgotten in a corner of our mind. And all it takes is a call from a friend, to realize again how wonderful creatures we are and how incredibly well we are made in order to love each other in so many different ways.

See you on Friday my little cousin!

Nice agapi mou and I agree – we can become desensitized to many things in life through daily routines and habits.

But you do have this natural gift of being happy and positive despite any circumstance – so its no surprise that your cousin would call to hear some positive words.

Hrmm that was weird, my comment got eaten. Anyway I wanted to say that it’s nice to know that someone else also mentioned this as I had trouble finding the same info elsewhere.
